Thank you to the third grade class and Mrs. Anderson for hosting our Family Mass on Sunday, March 8th. The mass was beautiful and well attended.

We know that the news of area school closures can be unsettling. Our school remains open, and all school activities. Faculty and staff are continuing to plan for online learning should a school closure be necessary. They are doing this in addition to their daily work with students and families, and I have been deeply impressed by their professionalism and flexibility.

We encourage you to talk to your child to help them understand COVID-19. Child Mind Institute points out that “kids worry more when they’re kept in the dark.” While COVID-19 is a global health concern, according to the World Health Organization, approximately 80% of confirmed cases experience only mild to moderate symptoms (coughing and flu-like symptoms), and it is severe in only a smaller number of individuals. Knowing more about the virus will help students manage their worries—and will help us all face whatever challenges it presents. By exercising caution, we can partner to ensure the health and safety of our community. Thank you for your continued support.

As we put together our contingency plans we are trying to gather more information regarding technology available in the students’ homes. This will help us to put together an effective plan as well as help us to identify those with special technology needs. The survey is very short. Please visit

STA will be offering grades 1-8 Summer School this year. Ms. Sunni Eilers will be Principal. The dates are Monday, June 15th through Friday, July 17th. Our Annual Gala Online Auction will open this Sunday, March 15th, at 6:00 a.m. and will end on Sunday, March 29th, at 6:00 a.m. Please visit our online auction site at Unless specified in the item description (ie.*Preview Items or Lucky Draw*), this year, you can win an online auction item outright! I want to give you a financial update concerning seismic. The seismic upgrade was completed to the tune of $2.2 million. We used our savings and received a loan from the parish. We still owe the parish $359,851.86. The Gala is the major fundraiser for PTG. The profit is used to pay down our seismic loan. We need your help. Besides attending the Gala, I welcome all donations.

Deadline for donated auction items is March 15th. Program Ad Sales deadline is March 25th.

Gala Donations = VOLUNTEER HOURS!!

  • 2 bottles of wine ($10+ per bottle) = 1 service hour for every 2 bottle donation
  • gift cards = 1 service hour for every $20 donation
  • auction items ($50+ per item) = 3 service hours for every item
  • sell advertisement in gala program = 2 service hours for ¼ page
  • paid advertisement in gala program = 2 service hours for ¼ page

Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 11th, is Spring Picture Day. Students have free dress.

PTG Meeting at 6:00 p.m. also tomorrow, Wednesday, March 11th. Childcare will be provided.

The Scholarship Fund for Students (Boys and Girls Scholarship, grades 3-8 only) has already been accepting letters of application. Letters of application is due tomorrow, Wednesday, March 11th. Please refer to page 19 of the K-8 Parent and Student Handbook for more information.

The Archdiocese of San Francisco offers financial aid for K-8th.  You would need to go to on the Internet for the application and directions on what to do. The Archdiocese’s Department of Catholic Schools reviews the completed applications, ranked on the basis of financial need. Late applications will NOT be considered. The Archdiocese will announce Elementary Family Grants to elementary families and their schools.

Chocolate Chip Cookie sale is this Friday, March 13th.

There is NO Peer Tutoring/Homework Club next Tuesday, March 17th and next Thursday, March 19th.

Our accreditation will also be next Tuesday-Thursdsay, March 17th-19th. You are welcome to read our Self-Study. There is a copy in the front office.

Next Friday, March 20th, is our Patron Saint Day. It is a school holiday.

Monday, March 23rd, is our WCEA holiday. There is no school on this day.

We are teaming up with Dave & Buster’s in Daly City and selling Power Cards for only $20 each. The best part is 50% of the proceeds go directly back to the school. Each Power Card will come with 223 chips and unlimited video (blue lit) game play on the day the card is activated. Information went out last Tuesday.
