In the Fall of 2014, an ordinance was passed by the City and County of San Francisco that required studies on private school buildings for the Standard of Life Safety if an earthquake should occur. STA completed this report and is now in the process of upgrading our school for seismic safety, various ADA requirements, and deferred maintenance.
The estimated cost for this project is $2,000,000. The project will begin in June 2017 and be completed at the end of the Summer 2017. The costs for this project include:
- A sheer wall from the foundation up to the second floor on the west middle side of building
- A separate sheer wall from second floor to attic on the west middle side of building
- Improvements to the attachment of the roof to the perimeter walls and replacement of the roof
- Electrical upgrades for street service, new panel boxes, as well as front office and classrooms
- Upgrades to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act
- Exterior painting to protect against the elements
Our school must pay as the project moves forward. The lives and safety of our children, faculty, and staff cannot and will not be compromised, and we are committed to completing this work as quickly as possible. While we are utilizing our savings to finance this project, we must replenish our account. We hope you will consider supporting our school so that we can continue to do the important work of supporting our children and families, as well as the community at large.
